DR. AMANDA J DURAND

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Durand is a 2014 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She grew up in Connecticut, and attended the University of Connecticut for her undergraduate degree in Animal Science. Dr. Durand brings experience with many aspects of equine veterinary care. She enjoys working with clients to help their horses live to their fullest potential. Dr. Durand has worked with clients on an array of concerns from basic preventive care and nutrition counseling to internal medicine cases such as equine asthma and metabolic syndrome. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is in reproduction and neonatal foal care. In addition to managing large Standardbred breeding farms, she has been involved with breeding and pregnancy management of all types of horses, from minis to Quarter Horses, Warmbloods and Percherons. Along with providing traditional medical care, Dr. Durand attended the Animal Chiropractic Education Source school for chiropractic on horses and dogs. The two-year course incorporates over 200 hours of classroom time and multiple hands-on labs. In her spare time she enjoys trail riding her Tennessee Walking Horse gelding, hanging out with her pets (Peter, the chihuahua, and Pickles, the cat), trying new recipes and spending time with friends and family.
